Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez played 105 minutes last night as Chile beat Argentina on penalties in the Copa America final on Sunday night.
The 27-year-old forward posted a photo of his swollen ankle on Twitter today, having played through a pretty serious looking injury to help Chile to victory.
Considered doubtful to be fit for the final, Alexis Sanchez had his ankle stamped on in the 4th minute and was not substituted until half-time of extra time. So over 100 minutes!
Alexis Sanchez was awarded the Golden Ball after the dramatic Copa America final win but the photograph posted on Twitter this afternoon suggests he’s going to need plenty of rest.
He is expected to link up with his Arsenal teammates when he returns to full fitness. Knowing Alexis, he’ll probably try and return before he’s fully fit.
It looks like he’s been bitten by a venemous snake! He captioned his tweet“I gave everything I could… and it was worth it. Happy!”
… Aguanté todo lo que pude…y valió la pena!!! Muy feliz
