Sport news: Paul Le Guen To Take Over As Super Eagles Coach With Trusted Assistant

Incoming coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Paul Le Guen is reportedly bringing his long-time friend and assistant, Yves Colleu with him.

With the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expected to make an announcement soon on the new Super Eagles coach, several reports suggest that Frenchman, Le Guen has agreed a deal with Nigeria.
Since the resignation of Sunday Oliseh in February, the NFF made it clear that they were looking for only foreign coaches for the Super Eagles.
They have already held talks with the former Lyon manager for a (N16.2M) €44,000 per month deal.
Current temporary coach of the Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf was on hand to be named the assistant to Le Guen but the former Cameroon coach will be coming with his trusted aid.
The NFF has an option of employing an indigenous coach as second assistant which could be Yusuf.
Yves Colleu is a former French footballer who has been assistant manager to Paul Le Guen since 1998 and has with him during his stint at Rennes, Lyon, Rangers, Paris Saint-Germain, Cameroon and most recently with Oman.

The 52-year-old’s main target would be to qualify Nigeria for the 2018 World in Russia.

For the qualification series, Nigeria has been placed in the same group as Cameroun, Algeria and Zambia.
Le Guen qualified Cameroon for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where they crashed out in the first round and the NFF thinks he is the right man to lead the Super Eagles.
The manager’s last job was with the Oman national team from which he was relieved in November 2015.
