Senator Ifeanyi Ubah dies at 53 in London hotel

Ifeanyi Ubah, the Senator representing Anambra South district in the National Assembly, has died.

The politician and businessman passed away in the United Kingdom, where he had traveled for an operation. According to a source close to the lawmaker, Ubah departed Nigeria for the UK two days ago and died in a UK hospital during the procedure.

Senator Ubah, who was the CEO of Capital Oil, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) last year. He survived an assassination attempt in September 2022, an incident that claimed the lives of three police escorts in his convoy. The attack occurred at Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

His passing has left a significant impact on the political and business communities in Nigeria.

“Yes, he is dead,” the source, who is a friend of the legislator, confirmed.

“We are waiting for the family to issue a statement. We spoke to him three times yesterday, before he went into the theatre for the operation.”
