1. Deck The Halls

Christmas I’m so sure you’ve heard this old time classical welsh carol song before, even while growing up.

Its dated back to the sixteenth century, and belongs to a winter carol known as Nos Galan.

Well, what’s a Christmas carol playlist without this particular song. It’s so nostalgic and lovely.

Gracious and exuberant in its celebration of Christmas, “Deck the Halls” takes the top spot on this list.

This is because it describes the best part of the holidays: decorating, dressing up, singing, and getting a bunch of stuff you don’t need.

This traditional Welsh tune is the very spirit of Christmas: lively, festive, and full of light.

2. We Wish You A Merry Christmas

Christmas Carol Oh this is one of my favorites while growing up and I’m sure it’s yours too.

Every little kid gets familiar with this carol song more quicker than the rest as it is so much fun to sing.

The greeting “a merry Christmas and a happy New Year” is recorded from the early eighteenth century.

We wish you a merry Christmas” song, perfectly captures the dizzy excitement and abundant goodwill of the holidays.

It also has the most triumphant and energetic melody of any carol on this list.

That’s a roundabout way of saying that this song just makes everyone happy, and in the mood for a very merry joyous Christmas.

3. Jingle Bells

Best Christmas Carol Songs For The SeasonThis song is one of the most commonly sung Christmas songs in the world.

It was written in 1850 by James Lord Pierpont at Simpson Tavern in Medford, Massachusetts.

It was published under the title “The One Horse Open Sleigh” in September 1857.

The main line was inspired by the noise of jingle bells on the horses’ harnesses, which were used to try to help avoid collisions in the snow in the mid-19th century.

Although “Jingle Bells” became a Yuletide staple, there was no mention of Christmas in the original lyrics.

However, this holiday tune is so popular, in fact, that two astronauts, Tom Stafford and Wally Schirra played a rendition of it for mission control on the harmonica while aboard the Gemini 6 in 1965, claiming that it was coming out of polar orbit.

Talk about a unique way to wish someone a merry Christmas, this song is the best carol to use.

4. 12 Days Of Christmas

Best Christmas Carol Songs For The SeasonThis song is an English carol song. A classic example of a cumulative song.

The lyrics detail a series of increasingly numerous gifts given to the speaker by their “true love” on each of the twelve days of Christmas.

12 days Of Christmas” gets points for being catchy and upbeat, but there’s only so much of it one can take before getting out the holiday spirit entirely.

Many early sources suggest that The Twelve Days of Christmas was a “memory-and-forfeits” game.

In which participants were required to repeat a verse of poetry recited by the leader.

Players who made an error were required to pay a penalty, in the form of offering a kiss or confection.

This lovely Christmas carol song is memorized and sang by many and it will be so much fun if you knew the lyrics too.
