I’m so sure you’ve heard this old time classical welsh carol song before, even while growing up.
Its dated back to the sixteenth century, and belongs to a winter carol known as Nos Galan.

Oh this is one of my favorites while growing up and I’m sure it’s yours too.
Every little kid gets familiar with this carol song more quicker than the rest as it is so much fun to sing.
The greeting “a merry Christmas and a happy New Year” is recorded from the early eighteenth century.
“We wish you a merry Christmas” song, perfectly captures the dizzy excitement and abundant goodwill of the holidays.
It also has the most triumphant and energetic melody of any carol on this list.
That’s a roundabout way of saying that this song just makes everyone happy, and in the mood for a very merry joyous Christmas.
3. Jingle Bells
This song is one of the most commonly sung Christmas songs in the world.
It was written in 1850 by James Lord Pierpont at Simpson Tavern in Medford, Massachusetts.
It was published under the title “The One Horse Open Sleigh” in September 1857.
The main line was inspired by the noise of jingle bells on the horses’ harnesses, which were used to try to help avoid collisions in the snow in the mid-19th century.
Although “Jingle Bells” became a Yuletide staple, there was no mention of Christmas in the original lyrics.
However, this holiday tune is so popular, in fact, that two astronauts, Tom Stafford and Wally Schirra played a rendition of it for mission control on the harmonica while aboard the Gemini 6 in 1965, claiming that it was coming out of polar orbit.
