What an incredibly frustrating night for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Real Madrid superstar repeatedly peppered Austria’s goal on Saturday night at Euro 2016, but despite all his efforts on target he couldn’t find a way past keeper Robert Almer.
Indeed, Almer had the game of his life, saving shot after shot.
Once again, Ronaldo struggled from set-plays in the match.
Cristiano Ronaldo has now taken 36 free kicks at major tournaments and scored 0.
Perhaps Raphaël Guerreiro is a better option?
In another amazing stat, Ronaldo has had 18 shots on target during the Euros, while Austria have had 17 in total. Perhaps most importantly, neither have scored so far in France.
Cristiano misses from the spot
In the 77th minute it all changed.
Cristiano Ronaldo was hauled down in the Austrian box by Martin Hinteregger, and Ronaldo stepped up to take the penalty.
It was a massive moment. He had to score. But unbelievably he hit the post!
