The tournament underdogs recorded a superb victory on Sunday evening, with their first ever tournament goal from Armando Sadiku enough for three precious points
Albania pulled off one of the biggest upsets of Euro 2016 thus far as they defeated Romania 1-0 in Group A on Sunday.
Armando Sadiku’s first-half header, his country’s first ever goal at a major tournament, sparked wild celebrations on the Albania bench, and was enough to seal a truly historic victory.
Gianni De Biasi’s men held on in the second half amid heavy Romania pressure, and have subsequently given themselves a genuine chance of qualifying for the knockout stages. Albania have three points, which may well be enough to
see them through as one of the best third-placed teams, should other results go their way over the matchdays to come.
