Legendary Nigerian rapper MI Abaga recently revealed that Grammy Award winner Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, rejected a $10 million (approximately N15 billion) offer to stay neutral during the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
In a video circulating online, MI Abaga disclosed that a political party in Nigeria approached Wizkid with the substantial sum, recognizing his significant influence in society. Despite the tempting offer, Wizkid, the “Essence” crooner, chose to remain neutral, unlike some of his colleagues, including Portable, Davido, and Peter and Paul Okoye, who actively participated in the 2023 general election.
Wizkid’s decision to turn down the offer demonstrates his commitment to integrity and his awareness of the impact his influence can have. This principled stance aligns with his previous statement in a viral tweet, where he asserted that “money can’t buy love.”
