In a recent video circulating on social media, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, explained why he does not own houses outside of Nigeria despite his immense wealth.
Dangote emphasized that his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s industrialization is the main reason behind this decision. He believes that owning properties abroad would divert his attention from his goal of transforming Nigeria into an industrial hub.
The billionaire made these remarks during a conversation with journalists at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.
In his words; “The reason I don’t have a London or American house is solely because I wanted to focus on industrialisation in Nigeria.
“I figured that if I had those houses, there would be one reason or the other for me to visit those places, thereby causing distraction for me.
“I am very passionate about the Nigerian dream, and apart from my Lagos house, I have another one in my home state, Kano, and a rented one in Abuja.”
