In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Afrobeats superstar Davido (David Adeleke) opened up about what his father told him after he lost his three Grammy nominations.
Davido, along with other Nigerian artists, experienced disappointment at the 66th Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, where he was nominated in three categories but did not win any.
In response to the setback, Davido expressed that being a Grammy-nominated artist is a win for him as it signifies recognition from the prestigious award organizers. He emphasized his determination to continue delivering quality music.
Regarding his father’s reaction to the Grammy results, Davido shared that his billionaire dad, Adedeji Adeleke, who initially didn’t support his career, reached out to encourage him. His father called him and reassured him, affirming that he is still a legend, regardless of the outcome at the Grammys.
In his words; “My father told me no matter what happened at the Grammys I’m still a legend…”
