Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayra Starr, known for her Grammy-nominated status, sparked mixed reactions on social media with a new video where she revealed she is now following her mother’s advice on her choice of outfits.
Ayra Starr shared on her verified X (formerly Twitter) page on February 7, 2024, that she has started wearing long skirts, attributing the inspiration to her mother.
This comes after criticism from a Nigerian man who called her out for consistently wearing revealing outfits and disrespecting music legend King Sunny Ade and singer Jaywon during their meeting in Los Angeles.
Addressing the criticism, Ayra Starr mentioned that her mother informed her about the need to start wearing longer skirts and even used the hashtag given by the critic.
The singer seems to be acknowledging her mother’s influence on her fashion choices in response to the recent backlash.
