The death of Afobaje, a popular Nigerian Yoruba vlogger whose real name was Alli, has sparked a wave of mourning on social media.
Thousands of Nigerians who knew him have shared their deepest feelings online, expressing that his absence will be deeply felt.
According to Wahala Network, the vlogger was playing football at Cement Ikeja when he suddenly collapsed. The news of his death has been hard to accept. A Nigerian blogger, @naijashimadun_, shared their last chat from the day before he died on Instagram, revealing a poignant conversation. In the chat, Afobaje sent the blogger some money and expressed his concern for those at home during the protest against bad governance.
Afobaje was known for his generosity, luxurious lifestyle, and close connection with his fans. His ability to blend humor with his Yoruba language while vlogging endeared him to many. Until his death, he was a beloved figure in the Nigerian social media community.
