Yoruba actress Adunni Ade has sparked controversy by expressing her discomfort with speaking Yoruba, the native language of the Yoruba people.
In an interview with Channels Television, when asked by the host to converse in her native language, the actress, who is of mixed German-American and Nigerian heritage, politely declined and provided her reasons.
Adunni Ade emphasized that English is the recognized language in Nigeria, urging everyone to adopt it for communication. She revealed that speaking in her native tongue irks her, and she has faced rudeness from people who insist on her speaking Yoruba. Despite the surprise some express due to her appearance, she acknowledged her father for bringing her to Nigeria to learn about Yoruba culture and traditions.

When she said “my father brought me to Nigeria to learn the Nigerian culture” I was like are you joking, your YouTube father brought you home to learn his culture no to learn Nigerian culture like you’re some tourist.”
