Nigerian singer and songwriter, Joseph Akinfenwa Akinwale, known as Joeboy, has officially left his record label, Empawa Music, owned by Mr Eazi.

The 26-year-old artist has signed a dual deal with the global music powerhouse, Warner Music, home to renowned artists such as Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Burna Boy, and Ckay.

As part of this new chapter, Joeboy has launched his own record label, ‘Young Legend,’ under the umbrella of Warner Music. In his role as the CEO of Young Legend, Joeboy aims to nurture the next generation of Afrobeats superstars on a global scale. The label will be headed by Deola Jaiyesimi, serving as the label manager.

It’s noteworthy that Joeboy was discovered by Mr Eazi in 2017 and signed to Empawa. Throughout his career, Joeboy has released two EPs (Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit), two albums (Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul), and numerous popular singles and collaborations, amassing over 2 billion streams on major digital platforms.

Joeboy, following in the footsteps of figures like Olamide, Don Jazzy, and his former label boss Mr. Eazi, is leveraging his influence and business acumen to spotlight emerging talent while furthering his own musical journey from a continental superstar to a global force. He shared the exciting news with fans on his Instagram page, posting a ritual-themed clip to announce the launch of his record label.

He wrote, “Dawn of a new era. @younglegend4l is alive.”
