Renowned Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele D Icon, has faced criticism over his first cinematic movie, “Kesari The King,” which recently dropped on Netflix on May 31st.

The epic movie, “Kesari,” has been making waves online, topping the No. 1 spot on Netflix among other films released across the country. Despite its success, the film has received some backlash from viewers.

“Kesari,” which grossed over N77 million in cinemas, tells the story of a legendary deity who defends the poor and squares off with a ruthless police chief when he reincarnates as a crime boss devoted to wealth redistribution.

The film features a star-studded cast, including Itele, Odunlade Adekola, Deyemi Okanlawon, Bolaji Ogunmola, Dele Odule, Yvonne Jegede, Femi Adebayo, Kelvin Ikeduba, Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe, Yinka Quadri, Mr. Macaroni, Yemi Elesho, and many more.

While the movie went viral online, many film lovers expressed their contempt as they shared their reviews about the film. Many berated Itele D Icon for releasing such a movie on Netflix, which requires a subscription fee.

A voice note has gone viral online, depicting an angry young man storming Itele’s private DM, slamming the actor for making him waste money to watch the film. He stated that the “Kesari” movie standard deserved to be played on cassette or YouTube instead of Netflix and criticized the storyline as meaningless.

The audio note triggered massive reactions, with social media users also sharing their thoughts about the film.
