Simi Oluwaseyi, the sister of Queen Naomi, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, has broken her silence on the recent Ibadan stampede that claimed several lives. Queen Naomi was arrested and detained following the incident, which occurred during a Christmas funfair for children she had organized.
According to Simi, all her sister wanted to do was bring joy to children during the holiday season, a tradition she had been doing for years. However, this year’s event ended in tragedy, and Queen Naomi was taken into custody.
Simi revealed that her sister was detained for over six days, during which she collapsed on the third day due to high blood pressure. She was rushed to the hospital and later arraigned in court, where she was charged with murder, among other counts.
Simi expressed her sympathy for the families of the victims and alleged that Queen Naomi was treated unfairly, being denied access to her family and subjected to harsh conditions. She claimed that over 40 policemen were present in court, and Queen Naomi was treated.
