Nigerian singer and songwriter Aderibigbe Sarah Oyinkansola, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has called for justice following the tragic death of 300-level student Idowu Christianah.
Christianah, a student at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), was abducted and murdered by her so-called friend Adeleye Ayomide, a 23-year-old philosophy student from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).
The FUNAAB student went missing on August 19th, and suspicion quickly fell on Ayomide, who demanded a N3 million ransom from Christianah’s parents. Ayomide later confessed to killing her and burying her remains at his family home. Further investigations revealed that the 200-level OOU student had been a serial killer since the age of 17, with all his victims being female. He had previously killed his female cousin and ex-girlfriend, both of whom were also buried in his parents’ house.
This horrific incident has sparked outrage online, leading to the widespread use of the hashtag #JusticeforChristianah.
Ayra Starr, deeply affected by the news, expressed her sorrow on social media, lamenting the alarming rate at which women are being murdered and assaulted.
She wrote, “Stop killing us ! Stop raping us ! Women deserve better”.
