Two disturbing incidents have shaken Nigeria, highlighting the country’s ongoing struggles with violence and inter-agency conflicts.
In the first incident, a Nigerian soldier attacked a police officer on Otukpo Ufia Road in Benue State. The soldier allegedly retaliated after the police officer harassed him and threatened to shoot. A video shared by Sahara Reporters shows the soldier confronting the officer, daring him to shoot, and warning a civilian intervenor not to touch him.

In another development, a violent clash erupted between armed operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Mobile Police (MOPOL) officers at a mining site in Ondo State. The incident resulted in injuries and the abduction of two police personnel. According to reports, the NSCDC operatives, on a national assignment with Ministry of Mines officials, attempted to disarm the MOPOL officers without prior notification, leading to a scuffle. One NSCDC officer was wounded, and two MOPOL officers were abducted. Security agencies are currently working to de-escalate the situation and secure the release of the abducted officers.
