Controversial Nigerian street pop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has made waves on social media after sharing a story about how he was advised against attending a party hosted by American hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs during his visit to the U.S.
Portable revealed in a live session that he received an exclusive invitation to mingle with international stars at Diddy’s event. However, close associates warned him against attending the gathering due to the controversial legal issues surrounding Diddy, including allegations of sex trafficking, racketeering, and human trafficking. Recent reports have claimed that federal agents raided Diddy’s homes in Miami and Los Angeles, where they allegedly found over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricants, sparking speculations about his sexual orientation.
Diddy has become a viral topic in Nigeria, especially after photos and videos surfaced online of him linking up with top African artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Falz, and Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz.
Reflecting on his decision, Portable expressed gratitude for choosing not to attend the party, stating that it saved him from potential negative associations. He also took subtle jabs at other Nigerian celebrities who have been seen with Diddy, questioning whether their luxurious lifestyles and expensive cars were truly earned through hard work or if they compromised their integrity by associating with the American music icon.
In his words, “I have some questions for some people, Na God save me when I went to America. They said we should go for Diddy’s party. God saved me that I did not go”.
