Mr. Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has opened up about his decision to insist on a paternity test for his grandson, Liam Light.
In a recent interview, he disclosed that Liam was not named by Mohbad, but rather by his wife, Wunmi Aloba. This revelation raised suspicions for Mr. Aloba, who initially intended to name his grandson Victor.
The decision to name the child Liam instead triggered doubts regarding the boy’s paternity in Mr. Aloba’s mind.
Since Mohbad’s passing on September 12, 2023, and his initial burial in Ikorodu, Lagos State, his family has been embroiled in a dispute over his assets, with the issue of Liam’s paternity adding further complexity.
Reports indicate that Mr. Aloba is withholding Mohbad’s reburial until the paternity test results are confirmed. The Lagos State court has ordered Wunmi to undergo a DNA test for Liam.
In the interview, Mr. Aloba explained that his suspicion stemmed from Liam being given a Muslim name, which seemed unusual for their Christian family.
In his words, “My son did not give him Liam. I wanted to give him Victor, they said no, they gave him Liam. And it’s Muslim that bear Liam not Christian. That was when I suspected that the boy’s Placenta that they did not give me during his birth was given to the real father of the child”.

He married his wife after finding out they were expecting and doesn’t want the baby mama tag on the love of his life. Baba agba leave your son’s widow alone and go get a freaking life!!”

nikky_owokoya said, “Not again !!!! Liam is a boy’s given name of Irish origin. It is a diminutive of the British name William, meaning “helmet of will” or “protection.” Liam also points to a “strong-willed warrior,” so baby can hope to embody courage and determination as they flourish! Liam is popular in Ireland and the UK”.
