How I paved way for Nigerian hype women – BBNaija Phyna spills

BBNaija reality star and renowned music hype priestess, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has claimed credit as the originator of the hype woman phenomenon in Nigeria.

During a recent podcast interview on ‘Spill with Phyna,’ Phyna, who is rumored to be in a relationship with young singer Khaid, shared that she was the first prominent hype woman in Abuja before her stint on the Big Brother reality show.

The 26-year-old actress highlighted how she discovered a surge in the number of hype women in Abuja upon her return from BBNaija, asserting that she served as an inspiration for all of them.

Phyna emphasized that whether acknowledged or not, she played a pivotal role in paving the way for Nigerian hype women.

Additionally, Phyna mentioned her observations in Ghana, where she noticed numerous hype girls, many of whom followed her on Instagram. She expressed her belief that despite this, some of them might deny her influence in the future, despite witnessing her trailblazing efforts and subsequently following suit.

In her words, “Before I went to BBN, I was a hype woman. I used to be in Abuja and I was the only Hype girl in Abuja and I was getting known, I was going to clubs and they were already knowing me.”

“When I went into the show and came out, I started seeing plenty of hype girls. Whether they like it or not, I paved the way for them because it was at that point they realized a hype person can go big.”

“Even when I went to Ghana, a lot of girls came to me saying they were hype girls and I was like ‘Wow that’s good’ and a lot of them followed me on Instagram.”

“Tomorrow now, somebody would say no one paved the way for me. No, you saw someone do it first and you wanted to do it. For me, I saw someone do it first before I did it”.
