Gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu, despite previously confessing to the crime. Ajayi, 32, was charged with culpable homicide punishable by death at the Nasarawa State High Court on January 17.
He was arrested on January 12 with Adaidu’s severed head in a polythene bag. Police investigations revealed that Ajayi had dismembered Adaidu’s body into over 50 pieces, allegedly driven by jealousy over suspicions of infidelity.
During his court appearance on January 27, Ajayi’s not-guilty plea sparked public outrage and calls for justice from advocacy groups and Adaidu’s family. Many have taken to social media to express their shock and disappointment, with some questioning the justice system’s handling of the case.
