The fate of popular Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, remains uncertain following his arrest by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at Seme Border on Monday.
According to the NIS Public Relations Officer, Deputy Controller Kenneth Udo, Bobrisky was apprehended as a “person of interest” and has since been under interrogation.
Bobrisky’s health has reportedly worsened during his detention, prompting authorities to take him to an undisclosed hospital due to a rise in body temperature and other symptoms. Although updates on his current health status are unclear, officials have yet to disclose whether Bobrisky will be charged in court or released once his condition stabilizes.
In a related development, a panel set up by the Federal Government to investigate claims that Bobrisky did not serve his six-month jail sentence in prison has found no evidence to support the allegation. While dismissing these claims, the panel confirmed that Bobrisky had received certain privileges while in prison. Bobrisky was subsequently rearrested by NIS officials at Seme Border, allegedly attempting to flee the country, and remains in their custody as the investigation continues.
