A young African lady named Marietta Mbonye Inshuti, who faced cancer while pursuing her studies, has successfully overcome it. She has achieved a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering from Makerere University in Uganda.
Marietta earned her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Makerere University in Uganda with first-class honors. Sharing her story on Twitter, she mentioned being diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma during her third year.
B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a form of cancer that impacts B-cells, a type of white blood cell crucial for fighting infections in the body. This lymphoma can manifest in different areas, such as the lymph nodes, bone marrow, and spleen.
“At this time in 2022, I had just received a diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma during my third year of university,” she mentioned.
Marietta shared that she underwent six rounds of chemotherapy without taking any breaks during her time at the university. She also mentioned that she successfully completed her treatment five months after being diagnosed.
She expressed that she is now completely free and healed from the illness. Despite facing this life-threatening sickness, Marietta was able to achieve a remarkable first-class honors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
“I completed my treatment in July 2022, and I have been in complete remission since April. I am entirely healed,” she stated.
