Chef Tope Ayodeji Adebayo, also known as Chef Tope Maggie, from Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria, boldly aimed to break the record for the longest individual cooking marathon, successfully achieving 200 hours.
This remarkable feat surpassed the previous record held by Chef Alan Fisher from Ireland, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes, surpassing Nigerian Hilda Baci’s record of 93 hours and 11 minutes in May.
Tope’s impressive 200-hour cook-a-thon received cheers from supporters at the venue, the Ogbomoso Recreation Club, opposite LAUTECH College of Health Sciences, Isale-General, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The cook-a-thon began on Thursday evening, November 9th, and concluded on Saturday morning, November 18th.
Despite these accomplishments, there are unconfirmed reports on social media suggesting that Chef Tope did not secure approval from Guinness World Records for his cookathon journey. Regrettably, Chef Tope Maggie’s attempt at the longest cooking marathon has reportedly been disqualified, with the specific reason yet to be disclosed.
