Celebrity stylist Toyin Lawani has opened up about the severe long-term effects she has been experiencing after receiving epidural injections during her pregnancies. In a heartfelt video, she shared her ongoing struggles and urged expectant mothers to carefully consider their options before opting for epidural anesthesia during childbirth.
Toyin revealed that since receiving epidural injections for the birth of her last two children, she has been dealing with chronic spine pain, episodes of paralysis, and breathing difficulties. She expressed frustration that while doctors often mention the short-term side effects of epidurals, they rarely inform patients about the potential long-term consequences.
In her emotional account, Toyin said, “Doctors tell you about the side effects, but they don’t tell you about the long-term effects on your body. I have about three friends who are facing the same issues I’m dealing with. I’m just 42—how did I end up with spine problems? I have implants in my spine, I go paralyzed at times, I can’t stand for long, and sometimes I can’t even breathe properly.”
Her story has sparked conversations about the importance of informed decision-making when it comes to medical procedures during childbirth. Toyin’s candid revelation serves as a cautionary tale for women to thoroughly research and discuss their options with healthcare providers.
