Mrs. Adenike Okunlaya, the mother of 3-year-old Abayomi Michael, has come forward to share her son’s harrowing experience of being physically assaulted by his teacher, Stella Nwadigo, at Christ Mitots School in Ikorodu, Lagos.
A disturbing video had surfaced, showing the teacher brutally beating Abayomi for struggling to write his numbers. The Lagos State Police have since taken action, and Stella Nwadigo has been remanded in Kirikiri Prison. However, Mrs. Adenike revealed that this was not an isolated incident, as her son had often complained about the teacher’s abuse. Despite reporting the incidents to the school authorities, no meaningful action was taken.
She said, “His father died when Michael was a year and some months old. I did not send any teacher to beat my son; I just asked her to assist my son by monitoring his education.”
As a single mother who lost her husband when Abayomi was just a year old, Mrs. Adenike has been working tirelessly to provide her son with a good life and quality education. She is now seeking justice and appealing for assistance from Nigerians to ensure her son can live a fulfilled life.
