A heartbreaking video has emerged of an elderly couple tearfully narrating the story of their son, Segun Olowookere, who was sentenced to death by hanging 14 years ago for allegedly stealing a fowl in Osun state.
Despite being only 17 years old at the time of his arrest, Segun was denied bail and appeal, leaving him to languish on death row. In a shocking twist, Segun pursued his education while incarcerated, studying medicine and eventually graduating.
The couple, in a desperate plea, is urging the current governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, to review their son’s case and show compassion by tempering justice with mercy.
Segun’s mother, overcome with emotion, said, “I call on Ademola Adeleke to please check this case… My son should just be free.” The couple’s heartbreaking story has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice, with many advocating for Segun’s immediate release.
