Davido has expressed concerns about the growing interest of African Americans in relocating to Africa. In a recent chat on the Big Homies House podcast, the singer warned that while Africa may seem appealing, the current economic situation makes it challenging for those considering a move.
Davido specifically mentioned Nigeria, highlighting the country’s economic struggles. “Things are not good back home. The economy is really struggling,” he stated.
He also pointed out the irony of Nigerians paying high prices for oil produced in their own country, emphasizing the ongoing issues of living in Africa. While acknowledging Africa’s growing popularity, especially in entertainment, Davido stressed that this “smokescreen” hides more serious problems.
The singer urged those thinking of moving to Africa to understand the difficulties they may face, saying, “We Nigerians, the exchange rate is messed up, the oil prices are too high… We do not have the best leaders, and that is a fact.”
