MC Oluomo’s removal as NURTW national president has sparked quite a stir. Just six days after taking office, the Court of Appeal sacked him and confirmed Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the legitimate leader of the NURTW. This development led to the removal of MC Oluomo’s portrait and personal belongings from the union’s headquarters in Abuja.
A video of the removal process has gone viral, showing his items being packed into an 18-passenger vehicle. This dramatic turn of events has generated massive reactions on social media, with many expressing shock and surprise. Some users are even waiting for MC Oluomo’s son to react, given his history of speaking out on such issues.
It’s worth noting that MC Oluomo’s influence in Lagos politics was significant, and his resignation as chairman of the state chapter sparked speculation about his next moves. However, his departure from the national presidency has raised questions about the role of transport unions and figures in Lagos’ complex transportation system.
The Court of Appeal’s decision also ordered MC Oluomo to pay N100,000 in damages to Alhaji Baruwa and his supporters. Additionally, Southwest Zonal Chairman of NURTW, Lekan Salami, revealed that MC Oluomo is no longer a member of the union, having publicly torn his union identity card in 2022.
