Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, recently responded to allegations from his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), who claimed that Peter stole one of his songs.
The accusation reignited longstanding tensions between the former P-Square duo, who have been separated musically since their 2017 split. The two brothers, once known for chart-topping hits across Africa, have since pursued solo careers, each garnering considerable success.
The dispute began when Paul took to social media, alleging that Peter’s recent track, *Winning*, was originally his work. Paul claimed that he had written and sung the song with a particular producer, only to later discover that it was recorded by Peter without his knowledge. Paul expressed frustration, noting that he had submitted six tracks to their management and questioned why his song was allegedly recorded “word for word.”
Peter swiftly responded on Instagram, denying the allegations and affirming that *Winning* was a collaborative effort with Calypso Music. To support his claim, Peter shared a clip of himself and the producer, calypso60music, guiding the track’s direction. He further revealed that Paul and their older brother, Jude Okoye, have involved lawyers in an attempt to remove the song from streaming platforms.
The controversy has generated a social media frenzy, as fans react to the ongoing rift between the Okoye brothers, who continue to make headlines with their strained relationship and creative differences.
He captioned the tape, “Call us names, call us childish; it is fine… I understand, but anyone that says anything false about me and I have evidence, then I have a right to defend myself. Let’s stay WINNING. You claimed you wrote the song and you didn’t know any @calypso60music. Then how come @calypso60music and I are now telling you what to sing? And you still have the Audacity to call me OLORIBURUKU” smh.”
“JUST FOR THE RECORD GUYS! JUDE And PAUL written through a Lawyer and are doing everything possibly to take the song down from all Music Platform. But i will fight till the end. 🙅♂️ After Jude will come and lie to the public that he has had noting to do with Psqaure for 8 years but he is the one making phone calls and writing to letter to make sure my WINNING is taken down from all platforms. SMH.”
“With my full chest! @calypso60music and I wrote “WINNING.”
