In a recent online video, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), issued a public apology regarding his previous statements about tithing.
Pastor Adeboye, who had stirred significant controversy earlier in July 2024, became a focal point of online discussions after he asserted that anyone who does not pay tithes would not make it to heaven.
Following the backlash and widespread reactions from the public, Pastor Adeboye appeared in the new video to express his regret for the manner in which his statement was perceived. He apologized to “all and sundry,” clarifying his intentions and addressing concerns that his previous remarks may have caused misunderstanding or hurt among believers. The apology has since drawn mixed reactions from various quarters, with some appreciating the gesture while others continue to debate the original message.
In his words; “Anyone who is not paying his tithe is not going to heaven, full stop. I’m going to give every one of you pastors, an opportunity to repent tonight. “
However, in a new clip trending online, pastor Adeboye while preaching in front of his congregations said he apologized for saying that if you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.
He said that he was sorry as what he said was wrong and not in the bible. In his words; “I apologize for saying ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible. What the Bible says is ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.”
