Controversial Nigerian social media activist Martins Otse Vincent, better known as Verydarkman, has come to the defense of ailing music video director ThankGod Omori Jesam, also known as TG Omori.
TG Omori, who has been battling kidney disease, underwent a transplant on August 26 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos. Despite three surgeries, Omori revealed that the transplant was unsuccessful.
The 29-year-old director attributed his worsening health condition to the consumption of fake alcoholic drinks sold in Nigeria.
Verydarkman, however, held the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) responsible for TG Omori’s health issues, citing their negligence.
In a video circulating online, the activist, along with a group of Nigerian youths, staged a protest at the NAFDAC office in Abuja, demanding action against the widespread sale of fake alcoholic drinks in the country. They carried large placards calling for the resignation of the agency’s director, Mr. Fraden Bitrus.
Verydarkman condemned the NAFDAC leadership, accusing them of allowing the circulation of counterfeit drugs, which has led to numerous hospitalizations.
In his words, “The incompetence of directors in NAFDAC has sent a lot of people to the hospital with a lot of fake drugs on the streets”.
