Nigerian chef Adeyeye Adeola, also known as Chef Deo is currently undertaking a remarkable culinary endeavor in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual after Hilda Baci.
Adeola’s cook-a-thon commenced on June 30, 2023, in the Ile-Oluji Local Government Area of Ondo State and is slated to conclude on July 6, 2023.
This feat follows another Nigerian chef, Adeparusi Damilola, also known as Chef Dammy, who recently embarked on a 120-hour cook-a-thon in the Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, aiming to push the limits of culinary endurance.
The current Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon (individual) is held by Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, who achieved a remarkable time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Her record-breaking attempt took place from May 11 to May 15, during which she prepared over 100 pots of food over the course of four days.
The Guinness World Records has officially acknowledged Hilda Baci’s achievement after conducting a comprehensive review of the evidence.
However, if Adeyeye Adeola manages to complete his planned 150-hour cook-a-thon, he will surpass Hilda Baci’s record and establish a new world record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Hours after the commencement of the event, a Nigerian identified as Alakowe took to his media page to react.
He wrote “Another chef from Ile Oluji, Ondo State Chef Deo, commences her 150hrs cook-a-thon to break Hilda Baci’s current record. She has cooked for 5hrs 40mins now.”
