Superstar Afrobeats singer Davido has responded to accusations from controversial artist Portable, who claimed that Davido gave him bad advice during their recent dinner in the United States.
In a trending video, Portable alleged that Davido, who is signed to Sony Music, advised him against joining the same label and instead urged him to sign with Empire. Portable expressed concern, stating that he also aspires to win a Grammy like Davido and felt that Davido’s advice might not help him achieve that goal.
Davido addressed the situation in a composed manner, clarifying his intentions. He explained that his advice to Portable was meant to help him explore a label that could better align with his musical style and career goals. Davido emphasized that he has always supported the growth and success of fellow artists and that his suggestions were made with Portable’s best interests at heart.
Davido’s response aimed to dispel any notion of foul play, highlighting his commitment to fostering positive relationships within the music industry. He reiterated his hope for Portable’s continued success and clarified that his guidance was based on his own experiences and the unique opportunities each label could offer.
In his words; “You are signed to Sony Music, but you’re giving me bad advice in America to get signed to Empire and collect advance. The same Grammy you’re chasing is what I’m also chasing.”
He added; “Olamide helped me directly, Skepta gave me a verse, money, shoes, clothes and still linked me up with big fashion brands. That’s the kind of helper I want from God not someone who will be following mouth.”
Reacting to this call out by Portable, Davido who recently joined the singer’s Instagram live session few days ago before taking him out for dinner and gift him designer shoes reacted via his Instagram page.
